  • Runs on much older systems: the floor is now gcc 2.4.5, libc 4.5 and
    Linux 1.0 (verified on Slackware 2.0.0 from 1994), down from gcc 2.95
    and glibc 2.1. The TUI uses only curses calls that ncurses 1.8.5 has.
  • Builds on the first 4.4BSD-based releases: NetBSD 1.0, FreeBSD 2.0 and
    OpenBSD 2.0; README has the one-line build commands.
  • illumos and OpenSolaris: configure accepts the System V curses.h and
    links the matching libcurses; pressing Esc while waiting for the model
    no longer crashes with the 64-bit system curses.
  • Full test suite passes on FreeBSD 15.1, OpenBSD 7.9 and OmniOS; the
    suite itself no longer depends on timing.
  • README: table of tested systems and a table of contents;
    testing/oldvm.sh builds a Debian 1.3 machine for QEMU.
